It's going to be a weekend of parties and more parties. These cupcakes are for Friday night. Mexican food is being made so I thought Mexican chocolate cupcakes and a Tequila Lime cupcake. These are really tasty. I sampled a little of each. Don't want to sample too much since I'm training for a marathon. The Tequila Lime is very refreshing and might be my fave of the two.

I've been dying to get in the kitchen this week. I just haven't been able to get in there... Until tonight! Homemade Butterfinger candy and Tequila Peach Pie. Both recipes courtesy of Not Without Salt. I got the candy a little too hot, but it turned out anyway. My thermometer doesn't strap to the side of the pan. It's on the list. I needed a relaxing evening of baking. I didn't get to my third item, but I will make them on Sunday and take them to work.
I can't wait to try the pie, but it needs some time to relax.

I found this recipe on honeyandjam.com. Grant loves donuts so I decided to give this baked version a try. They didn't disappoint. My only "oops" was rolling them a little too thin. However, that didn't keep them from being delicious. Next time we'll try chocolate or other flavors. Grant said "these are awesome."

This 7 minute frosting is pretty good. Thick, sticky and marshmallow like. They taste just like a snickerdoodle cookie! Taking them to poker tonight. They were meant for my team at work, but I was too tired to frost them the other night. I'll make them something else next week.

Homemade shortcake, fresh whipped cream and strawberries. The shortcake is flaky and buttery and so easy to make. I stole Alton's recipe and added more sugar and baked at a lower temp. Turned out great. You could make these as thick or thing as you want. I also sprinkled with Turbinado sugar. Mine were about an inch or so tall and didn't cut well, but tasted great anyway.

I tried to post these after Vegas, but kept getting an error. Vegas was great. 100 degrees everyday and the Max Brenner restaurant. Chocolate with chocolate and more chocolate. Hazelnut chocolate shake with breakfast, panko fried banana fondue and S'mores Sundae with Peanut Sauce. Everything was delicious. I definitely want to go back and try other delights on the menu. I came home with lots of yummy treats and an apron they wear in the restaurant.

My baby turned 10 on Saturday! Yikes. Definitely not ready for that, but things happen whether we're ready or not. He requested a Spider-Man Cake, but wanted chocolate cake and chocolate frosting. I was more concerned with the flavor than the decor. He seemed to love and the cake is delicious. I also made a Poppy Seed Cake with Strawberries and Mascarpone Frosting that was also delicious.
